Human anatomy studies by Autlaw Human anatomy studies by Autlaw
A couple of quick studies I did yesterday. This is the first time I took a serious look at human anatomy and sat down to draw them. I still have got a long way to go and I am planning on doing gesture drawings and studies on hands and feet as well. And a couple of portrait / face sketches as well. These ones are just a beginning of me ''investigating'' the most basic things like the skull.. sketleton.. muscles.

Me too, the sad thing is you need to know human anatomy before you can draw cartoons

True, I guess it is the hardest step to take... to actually make the start drawing them. But when you're starting to learn how their anatomy works it'll be a lot easier :]

Very nice! I actually just sat down today and did some practice for myself.

One thing I may suggest though, it looks like the pecs might be going too high up. The bottom of the pecs are in the right spot, but they draw too far upwards. It could also be that the Trapezious isn't defined enough, though. The rest is very nice though.

Do you mean on the left model I sketched or the right one x) ? I am willing to fix the mistake (; !

Welcome! n.n

The model on the right is where I'm noticing it. I think the top of the pecs might need to be lowered slightly. Since the pecs kind of flow into the deltoid, there needs to be a less noticeable line between the arms and the sides of the pecs. Then again, it could just be the fact it's a sketch and the lines are a bit crude making the pecs look separated that's throwing me off. Maybe making the line there less visible could help. I'm definitely no expert, but I try to lend a hand when I can. ^^; Sorry if that was confusing at all. xD

O yes I see what you mean now xD ! I definitely have to look up the names of the muscles sometime as well x)

I'll make the lines a bit more faint in some places, I hope it looks better afterward. Thanks for pointing out the mistake :3 !

I'm actually surprised I had any of those names in my memory. xD I had to look up the names for them just to make sure my brain wasn't faking me out. XD

Thanks for taking the criticism so well! I tend to stay away from it because.. You know how some people can get. e_e "IT"S PERFECT, QUIT TELLING ME WHAT TO DO WAHH". S'not fun.

Hah it will take me months to learn all those names I think xD I still call everything shoulder, chest, upper arm, etc. It's indeed better to know the muscle names when having to explain something (that's were I am having trouble lol).

And of course c: I am still a complete newby when it comes to drawing humans, it's still a hell for me to do and I am willing to learn something I am completely new to (: Otherwise I won't learn at all xD And I know what you mean, I had someone like that yapping at me as well when I tried to tell them what could be improved x)

I was considering using the simpler names, but I wanted to make sure we where looking at the same muscles. xD Well, good luck to you on that! 83

Ah, I see. xD The only reason I know anything is because most of my gallery consists of anthro animals. Even the anthros I drew a few months ago have awful anatomy compared to what I can draw now. Also, because I only draw anthros really, I'm not so good with human faces. They normally end up looking scary and deformed u.u . I'm still very far behind when it comes to proper anatomy. You're ahead of me by a LOT in pretty much all of the animal related anatomies. Maybe you could pop by my gallery and pick one of my animal drawings and help me with those. XD It's always a fun challenge to try and learn something new though. In art, a little bit gets you a lot. Feels great when you've mastered a certain technique, or gotten over an issue you've had with a certain thing in your art for so long.
Those people should listen better! xD

Also, i wanna let you know I really admire your art. Gorgeous stuff. :3

Ahw thanks c: I can use all luck I think x3

It's amazing how we can make such big steps in sometimes even short periods of time heh :3 I don't know how to draw a proper human face (which doesn't look out of proportion) either xD Though I really want to learn that. I've got a couple of human characters in my Altaix story so I have to : P

I'm still not a professional on animal anatomy either, I do know the canine anatomy and some felines quite well but I can give it a try to help you out :3 !
